Former Ukranian Prime Minister Lazarenko About to Lose His House to Taxes

Pavlo Lazarenko is in trouble with the tax man.

According to the Marin Independent Journal, the disgraced former Prime Minister of Ukraine owes Marin County $2.1 million in back taxes and late payment fines on his mansion in that picturesque county.

A tax foreclosure — subject to any taking the Federal Government may want to effect — is just around the corner.

A more deserving target of another round of bad karma the universe does not now have on offer. Implicated in the murder of government officials, corrupt beyond easy measure, and personally hard to bear to boot, Lazarenko did incredible damage to Ukraine’s present even though he fled the country a decade ago. He also helped boost Yulia Tymoshenko’s political — and apparently financial — career, and as anyone doing business in Ukraine any time she was in Government can tell you, that meant you could never tell when your business might be confiscated or the bribes for basic services become commonplace again.

She was and is, in other words, a great protege to her sponsor.

So, Pavlo: Hope you enjoy the memories of that house when you get out, because every government on earth knows you have more money stashed away, and they’ll never let you buy anything like that again.
